The critically acclaimed, 14-time Emmy nominated NBC sitcom starring Kristen Bell and Ted Danson, The Good Place needed a series of animations in support of its last season on air. We created the quick-hitting Lonely Gal animation, along with a number of others, as a vignette to celebrate the show.
We crafted illustrations from scratch to fit the style, color palette and lighthearted mood of the show.
Adding extra moving elements draws in viewers for repeated viewings. We animated the purple cat in this short as a more complex character complete with mouth shapes and blinks—and to be reactive to our animator’s jaw movements that make the ears and tail move so we had precise control over its movements when we recorded it as an element of the final composition.
