Lauded as “The Future of Tennis Coaching,” the TennisPAL Coaching app helps coaches generate revenue teaching tennis, anytime and anywhere. Coaches are able to analyze students’ videos with the markup drawing tools, share feedback by chatting in real-time and manage student rosters.
Our friends at 21st Street Creative, an L.A.-based production company, called on us to create an animated explainer video featuring original character designs that would launch the coaching app online and across social media, including Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
With the deadline to launch just weeks away, we needed to design likeable characters that were fun, simple and inclusive to have wide appeal. Using the color palette from the TennisPro website, we created a number of on-brand options, including with and without facial features, for the final character design that the client selected from.
Provided with the script and the voiceover recording, we sketched out the story for the 30-second explainer animation. The storyboards detailed all of the scenes and steps our team would need to produce the final art and motion design for the video.
With the character design and storyboards approved, we moved quickly, creating final art panels and putting them in motion. Utilizing Adobe’s After Effects and Character Animator programs, our team crafted the explainer video animation with quick cuts and fun action to encourage potential users to download the app. The client was most pleased with the final cut, which was delivered well before the final deadline.
