As seen in the above video, Doug Raub Design and Development is a premier builder of high-end residences in Southern California. We’ve worked with the firm since 2008 on their branding and interactive presence, which needed to be updated for the modern web with a responsive design for mobile and tablet devices, and feature Retina-quality images.
The project took on a new life after our discovery strategy session. We took a deep dive to get inside the heads and hearts of the firm’s clients. We developed extensive customer personas and uncovered the company’s brand attributes.
Entertainment executives and elite professionals. With big budgets but little time, Doug’s perspective clients judge in an instant based on appearances. And they have to be able to quickly navigate around the site. This led us to a single-page design concept. The evaluation of the site analytics and client research confirmed the direction.
The design came first. Sophisticated. Simple. Clean. For easy navigating and quick trust-building while highlighting the firm’s exceptional commitment to impeccable construction. We developed the completely custom site in WordPress and engineered the loading of all the images of each project, not at once, but as needed and on on-demand—with no lag.
When it came to development, we wanted the site to be extremely easy to populate in WordPress. Using custom fields, we programmed each portfolio section with the ability to have images added and rearranged with drag-and-drop functionality. Custom meta fields were added for square footage and location, along with an additional note about each project.

We animated the logo and created custom icon animations, shown above, that react to the scrolling of the page, as well as additional scrolling reveal effects that add visual interest to each section.
We wrote all copy and messaging for the site to appeal to the company’s elite demographic. We also edited the video and selected all key photographs.
